GREATsoils: Improving soil management for reseeding- Cheshire

When: August 14th 2018 10:30 to 14:30
Location: WA4 4JD

Soil is one of the most important assets a farmer has. Looking after your soils health can increase the productivity of your farm, make better use of muck, slurry and fertiliser and increase its resilience in difficult conditions

GREATsoils (Growing Resilient, Efficient and Thriving Soils) is a programme funded by AHDB to inspire and support farmers to assess and manage the health of their soils. Join AHDB Dairy, Beef & Lamb and Elizabeth Stockdale & Ellie Sweetman from NIAB to help you make the decisions on how to get your grass reseeds off to a flying start and producing to its full potential.

 The meeting will cover:

  • A healthy soil, what does it look like? Healthy soils = productive grassland
  • Understanding how your soils work – compaction, pH, nutrient content and soil type can impact on grass growth through the season
  • If, when and how to reseed?
  • Which grass varieties will suit my farm and my system?
