Get moo-ving on mobility – reducing lameness on your farm - Leicestershire

When: February 22nd 2018 19:30 to 22:00
Location: LE17 4RB

Lameness is still costing the average dairy herd 1+ppl in lost milk yield, treatment and higher culling rates, as well as affecting cow welfare and staff morale. But by understanding the causes and working with a cow’s natural instincts, it is possible to reduce the incidence and improve mobility.

You are invited to hear international lameness vet, Dr Nick Bell, speak about cow comfort as a significant success factor for herd foot health and what can be done to improve it. He will also talk about practical solutions, mobility and some of the results from dairy levy-funded research:

The benefits of improving cow comfort and lying times to reduce lameness

  • Early detection and prompt, effective treatment
  • How correct body condition reduces claw horn lesions
  • Foot trimming and foot disinfection
