Take your paddock grazing management to the next level!
Are you ready to set yourself a challenge for 2018?
Grazed grass is our cheapest feed, but simply growing high yields is false economy if utilisation is poor. According to the Welsh Grass Project, the difference between the best and worst paddocks on farm is worth £404/ha.
Grazing managers who want to improve their performance and maximise milk from grazed grass this season can join AHDB and grazing consultant, Moana Puha from LIC, to review effective monitoring and budgeting, together with strategies for early turnout to increase utilisation. In addition, we’ll be taking a look at training heifers to be efficient grazers:
- How to reviewing yields and utilisation for the 2017 season – bring your figures!
- Setting targets for this year: cow requirements, feed imports off the grazing platform plus budgeting for shortfalls
- Training heifers behind a hot wire, while meeting growth targets
- When to turn calves out, stocking rates and shelter requirements
