Rotational grazing – where can I improve?

When: September 25th 2018 10:45 to 14:00
Location: SN7 7SQ

Our host, Tom Matthews, started rotational grazing 2 years ago with his Autumn Block herd. Having grasped the principles and made good progress Tom wants to fine tune his system and maximise grazing potential. The challenges Tom faces are:

  • Extending his grazing season – getting cows out earlier and staying out for longer
  • Tightening his calving period – achievable targets
  • Further improving his milk from forage – setting realistic goals
  • Having confidence to reduce buffer feeding – when should he buffer and knowing when to take it out

Tom has already improved his milk from forage and grass utilisation but knows he could improve further. Join AHDB Dairy and Keith Davies, Farm Manager and BGS Grazing Mentor to understand the principles of rotational grazing and how to have confidence in the system to maximise potential.

This meeting is for farmers and farm staff who are interested in setting up rotational grazing and/or improving grazing management.
