Research Day 17th July 2014, Cornwall – Your levy, your future

Published 25 June 14

After the success of three research days at University of Reading, Harper Adam’s University and SRUC in 2013, DairyCo are delighted to invite you to the first of its research days in 2014 where DairyCo will showcase some of the research being funded with the dairy levy.

Research and development is crucial to the dairy industry, to help us advance and become more competitive on a global level, to make dairy farming more efficient and increasingly sustainable. DairyCo strive to fund unique, practical and applied research which can be applied on your farm.

We actively seek collaboratively with other funders and sectors of the industry, including our partner divisions in AHDB, to ensure complementary effort and maximum return on your levy. We also have close collaboration with dairy levy bodies in Europe so we can avoid duplication and combine knowledge.

Come along to hear about the latest trials being conducted under two research partnerships led by both University of Nottingham and SRUC. The event is by very kind permission of Mr & Mrs G Heywood on their farm in Launceston, Cornwall. There will be amble opportunity for discussion with the experts conducting the research.

Topics covered on the day will include:

  • Calving management to control Johne’s disease
  • Assessing the impact of soil compaction
  • Links between Digital Dermatitis and hoof trimming
  • New developments in grass variety selection
  • What’s new with mastitis?
  • Making the most of genetics
  • Managing Cryptosporidiosis in calves
