dairy fertility workshop

Increasing the reproductive efficiency of dairy cattle is a process of continuous improvement challenge.

A one-day interactive workshop held in September 2014 brought together 52 key stakeholders and experts from across the industry involved in dairy fertility to discuss the potential for further improvements. The workshop was organised under the umbrella of the DairyCo Research Partnership led by Nottingham University, which includes the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), where the event was held. Several short presentations shared the latest research and current activities in dairy reproduction.

One from DairyCo’s head of genetics, Marco Winters explained how data from milk recording and the fertility index currently used in the UK illustrates the way farmers are making changes to their breeding management.
