In January the Campaign for the Farmed Environment will be running three events throughout the Northwest focusing on soil compaction and management of soils. Events are held 20 January in Cheshire, 21 January in Lancashire and 22 January in Cumbria.

Guest speakers will demonstrate methods for soil condition assessment, including the new DairyCo and EBLEX funded soil assessment tool: Healthy Grassland Soils. This industry-agreed tool takes farmers through four steps for assessing soil compaction and suggests remediation measures based on compaction severity and consideration for soil biology.

The requirements for sprayer and pesticide management under the Sustainable Use Directive, is delivered by a guest speaker from the Voluntary Initiative, and a review of CAP/Greening measures and new Cross compliance requirements for soils.
