Boost in UK milk powder production

Published 23 March 15

Last year’s increase in UK milk production led to more milk being channelled into manufacturing, with a particularly strong 41% increase in usage for powders compared to 2013. This appears to have prompted an increase in milk powder exports over the same period, rising around 42% to just below 125 thousand tonnes. This equated to about £48 million of additional powder exports last year, despite falling wholesale prices.
