The Dairy All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) has released a report with recommendations to support the UK dairy supply chain and farmgate prices. The recommendations are as follows:

  1. Short-term measures to help with stabilisation of dairy markets, e.g. increasing of the EU intervention prices.
  2. Development of longer-term support methods for volatility, including futures markets.
  3. UK Government should assess possibility of extending the Grocery Code Adjudicator responsibilities further down the supply chain.
  4. More can be done with exploring export opportunities to promote British dairy products.
  5. Government and EU to work together to develop more free-trade agreements.
  6. Parliament and Government supporting industry-wide efforts to promote British dairy products and their nutritional value should be recognised by the Department of Health.
  7. A priority should be encouraging dairy consumption from a young age.
  8. The introduction of mandatory Country of Origin labelling.
  9. Public procurement guidelines should encourage the use of British dairy products.
