EU could face increased NZ competition

EU dairy wholesale prices could feel more downward pressure later this year due to a potential rise in competition from NZ.

The USDA and others have suggested NZ could divert more milk away from whole milk powder (WMP) into products with potentially better financial returns as their 2015/16 production season gears up. This could mean more NZ skimmed milk powder (SMP), butter and/or cheese competing with EU product on the global markets.
