GDT results continue to fall

Published 1 July 15

The latest Global Dairy Trade (GDT) auction (1 July) saw the price index fall 5.9% compared to the previous auction. This has resulted in the lowest average winning price ($2,276/tonne) since July 2009. One factor hampering prices is the amount of product sold, with this auction breaching the 30,000 tonne mark for the first time since January this year. The current trend in the auction results continues to highlight the pressure global markets are under. As previously stated, prices will remain under pressure until global supply and demand come more into balance.
