New label launched for free range milk

A new initiative promoting milk produced by cows that graze grass for at least six months of the year was launched last week. The initiative, set up by The Free Range Dairy Network, aims to offer producers a 5p per litre premium for their milk positioning the product between regular and organic milk. Milk sold under this scheme will bear the label Free Range Dairy Pasture Promise.

At present, suppliers are located in Derbyshire, Cumbria, Devon and Lancashire with 30 farming members providing milk for the scheme.
