UK Cheddar exports continue to rise

Published 9 July 15

UK Cheddar exports have continued to rise both within the EU and further afield, from Jan-Apr 14 to Jan-Apr 15, despite the current market difficulties. A sharp increase in demand for Cheddar, mostly seen in France, the Netherlands, the Middle East and Africa, has provided the UK with strong export opportunities. Over the same period, there has been a sharp decrease in Cheddar imports, down 52.6 thousand tonnes (45%), improving the Cheddar trade balance.
