Your AHDB at Livestock Event 2016

AHDB Dairy and AHDB Beef & Lamb once again joined forces at the Livestock Event on 6-7 July, NEC Birmingham.   highlights from the event included:

  • Calf to calving initiativedeveloped to outline best practice from the minute a calf is born through to the point she should calve into the herd 24 months later.  If you missed the show find out more about calf rearing best practice here. 
  • Decisions4Dairy support and materials to help you make informed decisions including the decision tree and one-to-one sessions with an industry professional for impartial conversations about your business.  Try the decision tree here and discover the full range of support available to you.
  • *NEW* Inbreeding Checker, developed by AHDB Dairy, the tool checks how closely related any sire is to another animal in the herd. Try it here, you'll need a Herd Genetic Report, if you haven't already got one simply email breeding.evaluations@ahdb.org.uk with your trading name, address and milk recording number and we'll set one up for you.
  • Livestock Learning seminars including AHDB sessions on the potential for UK dairy exports and implications for dairy farmers, Healthy Feet and BVD Free.  Plus AHDB Dairy chairman Gwyn Jones and AHDB Beef & Lamb chairman Adam Quinney took part in the #LivestockLearning panel debate.
