UK milk production peak up 1 million litres

UK daily milk deliveries reached a peak of 44.8 million litres on the 26 April. This represents an increase of almost 1 million litres (2.2%) on the peak in 2014.

Production in the 2014/15 milk year exceeded 14 billion litres for the first time since 2003/04. In the three weeks following this year’s peak, daily deliveries on average were up 970,000 litres compared to the same period in 2014. At this early stage of the milk year this may be an indication that, in the absence of any unforeseen negative event or changes in the dairy herd, UK production could be on track for another record production year.
