GB daily milk production unchanged

The latest GB daily deliveries data shows no change in milk production from the previous week, staying in line with seasonal expectations. Average daily production for the week ending 13 Oct was 33.16m litres, up by just 0.4% on the year and 0.8% above the AHDB forecast.

The recovery in production seen over much of September and October has been helped by improved weather conditions increasing grass growth. However, there remains an expectation that higher feed prices and reduced supplies will impact on farmer margins going into the winter months. This is anticipated to have a knock-on impact on milk production later in the production season, with more cows being sent to slaughter to offset anticipated increases in production costs.
