A couple of EU member state governments have announced plans to support their dairy farmers.

In Spain, the Ministry of Food and Environment has announced a new scheme that will see farmers receive €300 per cow. The announcement follows demands from Spain’s Young Farmers Association for dairy farmer support. As of 2013, Spain had 857,000 cows which would mean that this scheme could cost around €257 million euros.

While in Belgium, the government has announced that dairy farmers will receive 2.7 euro cent per litre (approx. 2ppl) for the next 6 months.
