greenhouse gas carbon footprinting report

Greenhouse gas emissions on British dairy farms

This report shows the first year's results, from a robust sample of 415 dairy farms as part of a three year study.

These first year results highlight areas where resource use efficiency and economic performance can be improved. The project will increase understanding of what can be practically implemented on farm to reduce carbon footprint, while aiming to improve farm profitability and long-term sustainability.

The ultimate aim of the study is to develop a three-year rolling average carbon footprint figure, which will be produced at the end of the third year of the study. Each annual report will be beneficial in monitoring the dairy industry's progress towards achieving targets set by Government, Agricultural Industry's Greenhouse Gas Action Plan and the Dairy Roadmap.
