The Welsh dairy co-operative South Caernarfon Creameries (SCC) is set to begin work on a £8.5m expansion to its cheese production facility in North Wales. The investment will almost double the creameries’ capacity from 9,500 tonnes to 17,000 tonnes, supporting SCC’s growth strategy.

The initial £6m stage of construction is due to be operational by summer 2015 and will increase production capacity to 11,000 tonnes. A further £2.5m investment would bring the capacity to 17,000 tonnes and would be implemented to support expansion by the co-operative’s member farmers. SCC currently has 115 farmer members, supplying the creamery with around 90 million litres of milk annually.
