PSA continues to help support EU commodity markets

Published 14 April 15

Since the Private Storage Aid (PSA) scheme reopened on 5 September 2014, a total of 56,587 tonnes of butter and 22,416 tonnes of SMP have been offered into storage.

The volume of butter entered into the scheme has increased in recent weeks with 3,076 tonnes offered for the week ending 5 April. Over half of the butter remaining in storage is from the Netherlands.

Since the middle of February, more SMP has been taken out of PSA than put in. As of 5 April German SMP accounted for 40% of the total EU PSA stock, with Spain accounting for a further 30%.
