Australian Code of Practice eliminates exclusivity for excess volumes

A new Voluntary Code of Practice covering the dairy industry was recently launched in Australia. The main focus of the code is to increase transparency in the industry and improve the relationship through between farmers and processors.

While similar to the Voluntary Code operating in the UK, the Code includes an element relating to volumes and exclusivity of supply.

The code reads, “If a farmer produces more milk than required or contracted to their primary processor, then they have the right to negotiate other supply options for the additional milk produced.”
