AHDB Dairy and AHDB Beef&Lamb are joining forces at the Livestock Event on 6-7 July, NEC Birmingham. For the first time ever, the show offers free entry to all visitors, so come and see us at stand AH194.

Calf rearing best practice 
Get your weighband and calf management booklet

The Calf to Calving Initiative, developed to outline best practice from the minute a calf is born through to the point she should calve into the herd 24 months later, takes special focus on the stand. You can also hear more on this topic from AHDB's Jenny Gibbons and Andy Dodd in the calf rearing demo area.  

Additionally, a new calf management quiz has been developed to test your knowledge of calf rearing. Have a go and receive a weighband and calf management booklet.  Everyone who scores over 80% will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win tickets to the January 2017 British Cattle Breeders Conference*.

We are at the show to help you make informed business decisions in these challenging times with a range of support tools and resources. These include the Decision Tree and 30 minute one-to-one sessions that you can book with a consultant, bank manager or other professional during which you can have an impartial conversation to start thinking about your business position and plans. *NEW* Inbreeding Checker

The new web based inbreeding checker will be availble to try on stand.  Developed by AHDB Dairy, the tool checks how closely related any sire is to another animal in the herd.

Registered users of the Herd Genetic Report will be able to come along to the stand, log into their Herd Genetic Report and try out the online tool. If you do not yet have a Herd Genetic Report, this can be set up for you on the stand, or in advance by emailing with your trading name, address and milk recording number.

Livestock Learning

You can also attend a seminar with Jean-Pierre Garnier, Head of Livestock Export Trade Development, about the potential for UK dairy exports and implications for dairy farmers.
