Irish milk deliveries are estimated to have totalled 694.6 million litres in August 2015, up 14.2% on the same month last year, according to Ireland’s Central Statistics Office (CSO). Overall, this results in domestic milk intake for the first eight months of 2015 up 9.2% on the corresponding period in 2014.

In addition, the CSO reports that milk solids have also shown an increase, with fat and protein percentages up 0.07% and 0.06% respectively. This increase largely took place from April. This coincides with butter and SMP production between April and August of this year growing by 19.4% and 78.3% respectively, compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, according to a survey conducted by the Irish Farmers Journal, milk supplies in September are also estimated to be up 14% on average across all processors, compared to September 2014.
