The preparation of footbathing solutions must be accurate if solution is to be effective. In order to ensure that this is the case knowing the capacity of the footbath and the amount of chemical that must be added to achieve the desired concentration is key. Too strong and it can have a detrimental effect on the hoof and skin around the feet, too weak may mean little or no benefit is seen from footbathing.

As a part of the AHDB Dairy Healthy Feet Programme a handy two sided waterproof guide has been produced with capacities of footbaths from length and width figures along with a table showing the required amount of chemical (liquid and solids) needed to produce the required concentration levels.

This resource is available by post in a waterproof format so they can be used where needed - by the footbath.
