Production follows forecast but drops further below last year

Daily milk deliveries throughout July have dipped increasingly below year-ago levels. The latest figures for the week ending 21 July have average daily production at 32.93 million litres, 1.2% (0.4ml) below the equivalent week a year before.

However, production is still running closely in line with the AHDB forecast. As discussed last week, this suggests that the harsh conditions have not yet had a notable impact on production. That said, they may still be contributing to the year-on-year change, and the full impact may not be realised until later in the year.
