Soil temperatures continue to rise

Spring is well on its way with soil temperatures increasing in the last days. Taken from 26 HGCA monitoring stations across GB, average daily soil temperatures have risen from 4.6oC to 5.6oC over the last two weeks.

The past five days have proved especially mild, with many regions recording temperatures close to 6oC, enough to stimulate plant growth.

There are however, significant difference between the regions, with Scotland exhibiting the lowest temperatures of 5.0oC and the South West averaging soil temperatures of 8.2oC.
