Beth Wells

Beth Wells graduated from Stirling University and SAC with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Science and Graduate of the Institute of Biology in Animal Production Science. She worked on hill sheep and dairy farms and in practical veterinary diagnostics before arriving at Moredun in 2009. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Edinburgh’s Royal Dick Vet School for her research into sheep scab diagnostics in 2012.

Beth then had a change of parasite and worked on an EU funded project at Moredun developing improved methods for the detection of the protozoan parasites Cryptosporidium and Toxoplasma in water.

This sparked an interest in catchment approaches to Cryptosporidium control, looking at parasite transmission on farm and between wildlife species, and developing strategies for disease control. Work continues in this line along with a relatively new area of responsibility in the Communications team, developing and furthering relationships with our main stakeholders – farmers and vets.
