UK milk being used to displace imports?

UK dairy imports have fallen fairly sharply over the last six months, down 10%. Over the same period exports have been relatively stable, despite a continuation of strong milk production. This pattern of trade could suggest that more UK milk is being used for displacing imports rather than driving exports. Another factor that will be influencing recent developments is the stronger Sterling that will mean that UK products are less competitive on the continent.
